Currently the best ranked football teams in the world vary month to month, depending on many factors.

If you remember back in the previous World Cup of 2010, Spain was the winner, and they had four whole years to celebrate their win. Of course Spain was defeated in the 2014 World Cup, much to the disappointment of the country. The 2014 World Cup was held in Brazil, and the Brazilians played so incredibly well, it’s no wonder why they are always ranked among the top teams. It may have been because they had home court advantage, why they played so well in this year’s World Cup, along with the fact that they are a well-trained team that plays with a lot of discipline.

Many people nowadays tend to bet on sporting events such as football, and they follow who the best teams are, in order to know exactly how to place their bets. Since betting is legal in many parts of the world, it’s no problem to bet on a football team, the issue lies in how to figure out who is more likely to win amongst the teams. For those who are truly interested in who the best teams are in football currently, there are several factors to consider. FIFA does a ranking every month in order to let the world know who is currently on top, but here is a list of several top teams:

Spain: Many remember this team fondly from World Cup 2010 in Johannesburg, South Africa. They played very well, and won the World Cup title against the Netherlands, 1-0. In fact, they had to go into overtime in order to score the winning goal. The hard fight that they had towards winning, shows how brilliant this team is, and currently continues to be a great team. Their passing movements, midfield, are remarkable, and help them to ultimately win games. This team has won several trophies in recent years, proving why they are one of the best.

Germany: This country won the 2014 World Cup, and had an amazing final game, as well as the buildup to winning the World Cup. They not only won the World Cup, they have won the biggest prize in World Cup history, of $35 million overall, to be distributed however the team sees fit. As the winner of the 2014 World Cup, they automatically qualify for the 2017 FIFA confederations cup, where they can also display their excellent Football talents. Germany also finished third place in the 2010 World Cup as well.

Portugal: Although they made it to round two in the 2010 World Cup while being led by Carlos Queiroz, he was fired amidst rumors of misconduct. Regardless of this, the team has thrived, and even had a finish in the semi finals, in Euro 2012, after Carlos’s leave. Portugal also made it to World Cup 2014, and did relatively well, although they did not win the World Cup itself.

Argentina: This is an excellent team that was second-place winner in the 2014 World Cup. Although they did a great job, they weren’t able to win World Cup 2014, but are fondly remembered for their difficult fight to the top. The coach that currently runs the team, decided to put Lionel Messi as captain of the team, which proved to be a great choice, as Lionel is now one of the top Football players in the world. Lionel was also mentioned many times during World Cup 2014, and even those who are unfamiliar with the world of Football, now know the name Lionel Messi. Lionel was also named the best player in the 2014 World Cup, and has really put Argentina on the map. Lionel is so popular, he even has his own website with facts, videos, news and more.

Brazil: This team has played at every single staging of the World Cup; the World Cup would not be the same without the team. In 2014 they hosted the World Cup in their home country, and millions of travelers came out to attend. Brazil seemed to play even better this year because of the fact that they were playing at home. Even though the World Cup was staged in 12 different stadiums throughout Brazil, they played very well up until the end when they struck out in fourth place. They suffered such a defeat in one of their games, it’s still talked about to this day. Regardless of the fourth-place win in the World Cup, they have always been known as one of the world’s best teams, and they continue to play with heart and soul.

Netherlands: Not only was this team in World Cup 2010 where they were defeated by Spain, but they also made it all the way to third place in World Cup 2014. They have proven time and time again that they are a force to be reckoned with, and overall, they play well. In the past Euro 2012 staging, they did not do so well, and Bert Van Marwijk decided to resign behind the reported failure. Regardless of past failures, the Netherlands continues to be an excellent team when they collectively play together.

Although there are many other teams out there that are very good, it’s not possible to list all of them. When looking to find the latest teams with the highest ranking, FIFA will release the information regularly, in order to let the world know which football team is on top.
